An archive of top-down and bottom-up solutions of public space
Public space is a product of social interactions, movements, friction, infrastructure and parallelism. It is a democratic space that is visible and therefore configurable for everyone. The private sector is intervening in this public space through services, brand images and artefacts of public-private cooperations. Boundaries between corporate strategies and a democratically designed urban society dissolve.
›Local Sensing‹ is an archive of visible tech-futurist, branded and artistic visions of public space. As part of a research program the archive works as an expandable note book to negotiate the question of how to deal with the collapsing gab inbetween Scifi future vision and the present. And how can those be included who are left out of the discussion. These questions are taken into local dispute. Framed by thesis, the research is negotiated through local cases.
The research project is made possible through a scholarship in the framework of Akademie Schloss Solitude, Wimmelfroschung and the Bosch Center for Research and Advance Engineering.
